10-30-24 THOUGHTS
Borrowing from yesterday’s class, all in the reading this morning is powerful and pertinent to our lives! We need this! LET’S TALK OUR WAY THROUGH this reading...
Terms used: Humble under, exalt, anxiety relief, sober in spirit, alert, the devil prowling to devour, resist him, firm in faith, a little suffering, will HIMSELF perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. Submitting humbly to our God is our job! Proper time exultation is the promise! Because we understand His great caring, we are to cast ALL OUR ANXIETY on Him! This is the TRUST AND OBEY song! The “stick in the mud” - ADVERSARY in all this is the devil! The devour word has some permanence built into it. To RESIST is also our job! A firm faith is required! We are not alone in this process! Given time and a little suffering on our part (remember prior lessons), the “God of all grace” promises some marvelous things in Christ Jesus!
Mic 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
1Pet 5:6-11 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 But resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself perfect, confirm, strengthen and establish you. 11 To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.
My Prayer:
Father, complete in us the work You have begun. Confirm, strengthen and establish us. May we humbly and continually recognize Your dominion over all things. Help us to own the tools You have given us to resist the devil. Keep us ever sober and alert, and keep our faith strong. Should times require, may we be ready to suffer. The promise of YOURSELF in our lives is so awesome dear Lord. Thank You with all of our hearts. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
